RAMANATHAPURAM: R.V. Sharma, Deputy Director General, Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai, on Wednesday visited Rameswaram. Accompanied by S.R. Ramanan, Director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre, he visited various sites for the proposed meteorological radar centre. Mr. Sharma told reporters that it had been decided to establish 55 Doppler radar stations in the country. Of which one would be established at Pullankudi near here. It would facilitate the meteorological office to predict more accurate information about depression, wind direction, wind velocity, clouds, weather, cyclone and others.
