Mumbai: The Goa Cricket Association (GCA) has been fined Rs. 5 lakh for flouting a BCCI rule, which limits the number of professionals in a Ranji Trophy team to three. The infraction occurred in Goa’s plate league match against Kerala from November 3 to November 6 where it had fielded four professional players — Ajay Ratra, Santosh Shinde, J. Arunkumar and Ryan Nian. The BCCI’s Senior Tournament Committee has also decided to penalise Goa by a point it gained from the match. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
