Mani HSS to meet RKS in the final

Coimbatore: Mani HSS posted a 60-run win over favourite Suburban HSS and entered the final of the CDCA inter-School non-age group cricket tournament for the Saravana Jewellers Trophy at the SNR Sons grounds, here on Friday.

Vasanth chipped in a useful 70 for Mani HSS, while M. Muthumani (five for 22) signed off with yet another five-wicket haul for Suburban.

In the final, Mani will meet RKS Kalvi Nilayam, which scored a seven-wicket win over Jayendra Saraswathi MHSS.

Meanwhile, Jayendra Saraswathi notched up a three-wicket win over Keartiman HSS in the semifinals of the CDCA under-13 inter-School tournament for the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis Trophy.

The scores:

Semifinal: Non-age (Saravana Jewellers Trophy): Mani HSS 163 for seven in 25 overs (Vasanth 70, M. Muthumani five for 22) bt Suburban HSS 103 for nine in 25 overs (Viswanathan 46 n.o.).

Jayendra Saraswathi MHSS 81 for nine in 25 overs (J. Koushik 38 n.o.) lost to RKS Kalvi Nilayam 82 for three in 19.1 overs (Nithish Kumar Sahaney 38 n.o.)

U-13 (Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis Trophy): Keartiman MHSS 96 in 19.5 overs lost to Jayendra Saraswathi MSS 97 for seven in 16.5 overs (Godwin Rupesh 33 n.o.)

Hockey tournament

The district-level inter-School hockey tournament for boys and girls, conducted by the Coimbatore wing of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, will be held at the Bharathiar University grounds from November 24 to 26.

CDSGWA tournaments

The 18th annual district-level inter-School badminton tournament, organised by the Coimbatore District Sports and Games Welfare Association, will be held at the Vidya Vikasini MHSS courts in Tudiyalur on November 29 and 30.

The district-level football tournament for girls for the Chellammal Memorial Rolling Trophy will be held during the first week of December.

The venue will be decided on a later date.

Victory Vidyalaya wins

Victory Vidyalaya MS (Viswasapuram), with six gold, eight silver and five bronze medals, lifted the Mecherry Krishnasamy Iyer Memorial Rolling Trophy in the district-level karate championship held for schools recently.
