Laxman to lead Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Test star V.V.S. Laxman will lead Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy Super League match against Rajasthan to be played here from November 23, according to D.S. Chalapathi, joint secretary of Hyderabad Cricket Association.

The team: V.V.S. Laxman (capt), N. Arjun Yadav (vice-capt), D.B. Ravi Teja, T. Suman, S. Anoop Pai, Abhinav Kumar (wk), S.M. Shoaib, M.P. Arjun, Ashwin Yadav, Ahmed Quadri, A. Lalith Mohan, Ronald Rodrigues, Paramveer Singh, Vishal Sharma, Mohd. Shakeer.

Coach: Kanwaljit Singh. Manager: Ashok Makhija (Balaji Colts).

Parida, Vaslala best

Pradeep Kumar Parida of CRRI (Cuttack) and M. V. Valsala of CMFRI (Cochin) were adjudged ‘best athletes’ in the All-India ICAR inter-zonal sports meet. Dr. B.K. Sinha, DG, NIRD, gave away the prizes.

A good spell by Dinesh (seven for 14) helped Techpoint Solutions defeat Wipro Technologies by 15 runs in the quarter-final of the fourth Champions Trophy Twenty-20 corporate cricket tournament here.

The scores (quarterfinals): Yash Technologies 117 for nine (Pankaj 50 not out) lost to The Hindu 118 for six.

Techpoint Solutions 148 for five (Satish 68) bt Wipro Technologies 133 (Dinesh seven for 14).

Bank of America 78 lost to Karvy 81 for one (Hussain 49 not out).

Kun 158 for nine (P. Manoj 40, Faizal four for 18) bt GE Money 133 for eight (Sreenivas four for 13).
