Quality check on diamonds

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The biggest hurdle in buying diamonds is not the cost, but the customers’ confidence on quality of the diamonds purchased, said Devika Gidwani, Chief Operating Officer and Country Head of HRD Antwerp Institute of Gemmology, one of the largest diamond-testing laboratories in the world.

She was inaugurating the ‘Diamond Evolution Week’ from Friday to November 27 at Kirthilals Diamond and Jewellery showroom at Somajiguda here on Friday. During the week, owners of the diamonds, irrespective of place and time of the purchase, can get their precious stones evaluated for free of cost at the showroom.

“Through this campaign we want to keep the customers better informed on quality of diamonds so that they can buy them with confidence,” said Ms. Devika. The four ‘Cs’ of diamond – cut, colour, clarity and carat – will be checked on state-of-the-art equipment imported from Belgium.

The showroom is conducting an informative programme .“Through this programme, we want to inform them about the features that they should look for in a diamond ,” said Balaji Viswnathan, Head of Marketing, Kirtilals.
