LEAVING NOTHING TO CHANCE: sniffer dog checking parcels at the Chennai Central Railway Station on Friday. —

CHENNAI: Tension prevailed in the Chennai Central Railway Station for sometime on Friday after an anonymous caller had warned that bombs were placed on the premises of the station.

Sleuths of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad carried out search operations with the help of metal detectors and sniffer dogs.

Hoax call

A thorough anti-sabotage check was conducted and then the threat was declared as a hoax call.

The Inspector General of Police (Railways), G. U. G. Shastry, said that the call, which had been made to the police helpline, was traced to a public call office (PCO) situated in Koyambedu.
