HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission on Friday directed the District Educational Officer (DEO), Ranga Reddy district, to inspect all Government and private schools including aided institutions with specific reference to their maintenance and file a comprehensive report on the same before the Commission. The order from the commission comes after it filed a ‘suo moto’ case taking into cognisance a news item published in The Hindu on Friday, ‘Yet another Government school lies neglected’, bringing to light the pathetic conditions of a Government school in Old Alwal. The order took note of the “neglected and pathetic state with poorly-maintained 10-room building, that too, lacking in basic amenities like toilets, power supply, ventilation, proper flooring and crammed with 625 students out of whom 325 are primary schoolchildren and 300 are high school girls, packed with 70 students in each class”. The District Educational Officer has been asked to file a comprehensive report before the Commission by November 28. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
