Heated arguments at TDP meet

KARIMNAGAR: Internal bickering was to the fore at the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) district general body meeting in Karimnagar on Saturday with members protesting against the party’s district leadership and delay in the constitution of the Bejjanki mandal committee.

Telugu Yuvatha State organising secretary T. Sarath Rao obstructed the meeting by flaying the party district president L. Ramana for not constituting the Bejjanki mandal committee.

He alleged that Mr. Ramana was encouraging groupism in the mandal and not constituting the mandal committee in spite of repeated pleas. He expressed concern that the district party leaders were not inviting all the mandal committees for the district general body meeting.

Mr. Ramana refuted Mr. Sarath Rao’s allegations and instructed the party leaders to call the police and send him out of the meeting. Immediately, the supporters of Mr. Sarath Rao rushed to the dais and heated arguments ensued between Mr. Ramana and other leaders.

Later, some other leaders pacified Mr. Sarath Rao and his supporters and assured them of constituting the Bejjanki mandal committee on November 24 after consulting the State committee.

Earlier, TNTUC district unit leader Narasimha Reddy and TDP vice-president Rajitha blamed Mr. Ramana for the thin attendance at the general body meeting and accused him of not inviting all the mandal committees and other leaders.

Talking to newsmen later, Mr. Sarath Rao alleged that Mr. Ramana was ill-treating him by not inviting him to the party programmes such as the recent Yuvagarjana programme. of functioning.
