India qualifies in seventh spot

CHENNAI: Narain Karthikeyan helped A1 Team India qualify seventh for the feature race and tenth for the sprint race in the A1GP World Cup of Motor Sport in Sepang, Malaysia.

Karthikeyan clocked a fastest lap time of 1:51.168 in the qualifying session for the feature race on Saturday. Team Switzerland took pole with a time of 1:47.154.

In the sprint race qualifying session, Karthikeyan managed a time of 1:49.350 without the PowerBoost. Team Ireland won pole position.

The teams had the first chance to play a PowerBoost ‘joker’ in qualifying, which allows the PowerBoost button to be available for an entire lap. The PowerBoost button gives an extra 60 bhp.
