Erode
This will include duty drawback concessions, etc. ERODE: The Union Government will soon come out with a package to help the textile industry, Union Minister of State for Textile and Handlooms E.V.K.S. Elangovan has said. Talking to reporters here on Friday, he said the Government was aware of the problems the textile industry faced and would come out with a package, which could include duty drawback concessions, etc. As part of the measures the Government would also try to create a domestic market for textiles, which to an extent would offset the fluctuations in the international market. On the Erode Mega Cluster, which the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs cleared on Thursday, Mr. Elangovan said the Rs. 70-crore project would be implemented soon. “Erode will soon have a cluster, which will have a design studio, research and development centre, marketing facility, etc. Also, the cluster will address the professional and social needs of powerloom weavers.” He said the Government was also open to having the cluster as a joint venture. R.M. Palanichamy, MLA, was also present at the meeting. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
