Large number of devotees witness ‘Sandanakoodu’

Pious occasion: The ‘sandanakoodu’ festival under way in Erwadi.

RAMANATHAPURAM: A large number of devotees on Saturday thronged Erwadi to witness ‘sandanakoodu’ festival at Syed Ibrahim Badhusha Oliyulla dharga.

A procession was taken along the important streets of Erwadi at wee hours.

The holy sandal was applied on the ‘Samadhi’ of Syed Oliyulla.

Muslim devotees from far away places, including Kerala, attended.

Special prayers were conducted on the occasion.

The festival, which was known for religious harmony, witnessed the participation of several Hindus.

The police and revenue made special arrangements.
