Double for Athmiya

TIRUCHI: Athmiya C. Shekhar of Kamala Niketan Montessori School won the cadet and mini-cadet girls’ titles at the district-level ranking table tennis tournament, organised by the BHEL Community Centre here.

The results (all finals): Men: S. Hariharasudhan (Bishop Heber College) bt K. Thivakaran (RSK HSS) 11-1, 12-10, 12-10, 12-10. Women: T. Jeyasri (SVS) bt Srinidhi (NIT-T) 9-11, 11-6, 13-11, 11-6.

Open doubles: P.K. Sukumaran & S. Tharun bt Abdul Kalam Azad & Suresh Kasiraj 11-9, 11-7, 11-5.

Boys: Junior: K. Thivakaran bt S. Tharun (Campion AI HSS) 11-7, 11-8, 11-9. Cadet: S. Allen Richard (Campion AI HSS) bt A.S. Leo Aldrin (Campion AI HSS) 11-5, 8-11, 11-7, 11-9.

Mini-Cadet: Joe Nithin Raj (Campion AI HSS) bt Giri Manikandan (Sri Sivananda Balalaya) 11-5, 11-6, 11-9.

Girls: Junior: S. Bavithra (SVS) bt T. Jeyasri (SVS) 11-5, 11-9, 9-11, 11-9. Cadet: Athmiya C. Shekhar (Kamala Niketan Montessori School) bt S. Mehala (Government High School, Thumbalam) 8-11, 11-5, 13-11, 10-12, 11-7. Mini-cadet: Athmiya C. Shekhar bt S. Priyadarshini (Cauvery MHSS) 11-4, 11-2, 11-6.

Chess tournament

The Rockfort Chess Academy will conduct a district-level chess tournament on November 29 and 30 at S.M. Higher Secondary School, Woraiyur, Tiruchi.
