Oncology surgeries relayed live

HYDERABAD: In a unique initiative, the Indo-American Cancer Institute and Research Centre here relayed live a ‘virtual surgical oncology workshop’ on Sunday for surgeons and PG students across 14 centres in the State and Bhubaneshwar.

During the three-hour workshop, more than 300 delegates witnessed surgeries and interacted with surgical oncologists though a two-way video conference. Apart from masectomy, surgeries relating to breast conservation, thyroid, tongue and radical neck dissection were performed by leading surgeons.

Addressing a press conference, Ch. Mohana Vamsy, director of the institute, said common oncological surgeries were performed.
