A poll stunt: RSS chief

Special Correspondent

LUCKNOW: The ‘Sarsanghchalak’ of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, K.S. Sudarshan, on Sunday dismissed the term ‘Hindu terrorism’ as an election stunt of the UPA government. Mr. Sudarshan said there was no such thing as ‘Hindu terrorism,’ in fact, a terrorist had no religion and was neither a Hindu nor Muslim nor Christian.

Talking to reporters after addressing RSS delegates of the Avadh ‘pranth’ (region) at the Saraswati Shishu Mandir here, Mr. Sudarshan said the Central government had failed to take effective action against those responsible for the series of bomb blasts recently in the country. Since this was the election year, the term ‘Hindu terrorism’ had been thrown in to show that the UPA government was in a pro-active mould, the RSS chief said. He was of the opinion that action should be taken against the guilty, but only after the charges are proved.

Addressing the delegates, the RSS chief said as compared to the earlier days, Hindus have become unified. This was borne out by the unity displayed in the Amarnath Shrine Board controversy and the Rama Sethu issue. He said it was this newfound strength in the majority community that forced the Central government to change its affidavit in the Rama Sethu issue.

Mr. Sudarshan attacked the Congress for the economic crisis in the country.
