A delight for tiny tots: Thangam Thennarasu, Minister for School Education, inaugurating children’s park at Tirunagar Town Panchayat near Madurai on Sunday. MADURAI: A renovated park, which would be a delight for morning walkers, with a good playing facility for children was inaugurated at Tirunagar here on Sunday. Minister for School Education Thangam Thennarasu declared open the five-acre Arignar Anna Park, which was renovated at a cost of Rs.40 lakh with funding support under New Anna Marumalarchi Thittam of the State Government. The park is surrounded by a spacious footpath for the convenience of people who go for walking daily, said Indira Gandhi, Chairperson, Tirunagar Special Grade Town Panchayat. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the park would pave way for good health of the local people and for recreation of children. Later, Mr. Thennarasu also inaugurated an Internet browsing centre at the nearby Tirunagar library which has a collection of 45,000 books. “We must appreciate the efforts of Library Study Circle for spreading reading culture among the public.
