Campaign: Pharmacy students taking out a procession in Udhagamandalam on Tuesday. — Udhagamandalam: A rally was taken out here on Tuesday as part of the ongoing campaign to enhance awareness about healthcare, medicines, their use and the role of pharmacists in making them available to the consumers. Carrying banners and placards hundreds of students of the J.S.S.College of Pharmacy participated in the rally. The Principal of the College, K. Elango, said that the campaign was part of the 47th National Pharmacy Week celebrations. He added that an awareness programme was also conducted at eight higher secondary schools in and around Ooty. Stating that the health-related knowledge of hundreds of school students was considerably enhanced, thanks to the programme, he said that the pharmacy students focussed on life style related diseases. In the process they not only got a chance to provide answers to a number of questions but also gained valuable insight into the mindset of the younger generation vis a vis dealing with maladies. He said that the students of many schools were keen to know what kind of a diet to follow while preparing for examinations.
