Rajahmundry: S. Saibaba, DSP of Rajahmundry has asked Auto drivers that they should act responsibly in the society and reflect the culture and customs of the City. Addressing Auto-rickshaw drivers of Rajahmundry City who are more than 10,000, he said that traffic wing of the Police Department is issuing identity cards and ‘history sheets’ to all the drivers. He distributed 3,000 ID cards and ‘information data’ (history sheets) stickers to auto-drivers in this meeting. When a reporter objected the title ‘history sheet’ and suggested to change it as ‘information data’ police readily agreed and changed the name. The identity cards will contain, licence number, C-book particulars, fitness certificate details, insurance details. The ‘information data’ contains special code number in red letters, persons name and address, which is in the shape of big sticker and will be pasted on the back side of driver’s seat that enables the passenger to know about primary details of auto-driver. The Circle Inspector of Traffic A. Satyanand requested auto-drivers’ union leaders to see that every auto displays ‘information data’ . He also asked auto-drivers to maintain traffic discipline . The traffic CI said that any passenger can call 1090 or 1091 phone numbers from any public booth and make a complaint against the auto-driver who misbehaves or creates problems.
