Revanna calls for probe into ‘transfer business’

Special Correspondent

‘Government has lost control over administration’

‘Many transferred engineers yet to get posting’

BANGALORE: The former Minister H.D. Revanna on Tuesday criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party Government for the large-scale transfer of officials and demanded an inquiry either by the Lokayukta or a sitting judge of the Karnataka High Court to find out the persons behind the “transfer business” over the past few years.

‘Officials fed up’

Addressing presspersons at the Janata Dal (Secular) headquarters here, Mr. Revanna said the Government had lost control over the administration and nobody in the Government knew what was happening. Officials were fed up with frequent transfers, he alleged and urged the Government to order an inquiry to find out the leaders behind frequent change in the postings of officials in all departments.

Mr. Yeddyurappa, a few days ago, defended the transfer of official and said the number of transfers was fewer compared to those during the tenure of the Kumaraswamy and Dharam Singh governments.

No posting

Many of the transferred engineers in the PWD had not been given posting, and several posts in the department were vacant.

A large number of teachers had been transferred by the JD(S)-BJP coalition government and that was one of the reasons for the high number of transfers. But there were no public complaints against the transfers then since they were transparent, Mr. Revanna claimed.
