MADURAI: In a gesture that would go a long way in providing a conducive atmosphere for the students of Sourashtra Higher Secondary School here, a set of laboratory equipment and a generator were donated on Tuesday.

The donations were organised by the Rotary Foundation, the Rotary Clubs of Santa Anita – Tlajomulco (D4150), Madurai (D3000), and Madurai East (D3000). Emily Sharp, Cadre Coordinator, Humanitarian Grants Programme, Rotary Foundation, U.S., gave away the keys to the school correspondent A.K. Ramamoorthy at a function.

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Sharp praised the members for their active work in improving their community. “Your works were in keeping with this year’s theme of ‘Make dreams real’ and students were benefiting from your donations.”

She outlined four tenets of stewardship that should be followed before projects were taken up. The four tenets were truth, fairness, building goodwill and better relationship and benefits to everyone.

She also assured the local Rotary Clubs of full support from the Rotary Head office. J. Sridhar, president, Rotary Club of Madurai, spoke on the occasion.
