Anti-dowry day observed

MALAPPURAM: The Social Welfare Department observed Anti-Dowry Day here on Wednesday by organising a seminar at Government College, Malappuram. District and Sessions Judge M.L. Joseph Francis inaugurated the seminar. District Collector M.C. Mohandas presided over the function.

College principal P.K. Velayudhan administered an anti-dowry oath to the students.

Sujata S. Varma, lawyer, spoke on the Dowry Prohibition Act. P.S. Aminu, District Social Welfare Officer, welcomed the gathering. Sheeba Mumtaz, District Probation Officer, addressed the gathering. K. Subramanian, Integrated Child Development Services officer, proposed a vote of thanks. —Staff Reporter
