AI tickets to be cheaper by up to Rs.10,000

A Correspondent

Nedumbassery: Air India has withdrawn the transaction fee on its tickets — a reduction ranging from Rs.350 on domestic economy class tickets to Rs.10,000 on first class tickets to Europe/U.S.A. — sold through its booking offices, web site and call centres from Wednesday, according to a statement issued by the airline.

The new scheme would make a substantial difference in the existing ticket prices on the busy Kerala-Gulf route, according to the airline officials. With a reduction in the transaction fee for the tickets to Middle East countries and other Asian countries including Singapore, an economy class ticket would be cheaper by Rs.1,200, a business class one by Rs.2,000 and a first class one by Rs.5,000. In the domestic sector, this would be Rs.350 on the economy and Rs.500 on the other two classes.

In the Europe sector, the prices would come down by Rs.2,500 on an economy class ticket, Rs.5,000 on a business class ticket and Rs.10,000 on a first class one. These rates were also applicable for the passengers to U.S.A, African countries and South American countries.
