Suzuki sports bikes priced at Rs. 12.50 lakh

NEW DELHI: Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Ltd. (SMIPL), a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan, on Wednesday launched two hyper sports bike — Hayabusa and Intruder M1800R. Both priced at Rs. 12.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), Hayabusa comes with a 1,340-cc engine, while Intruder is available with a 1,783-cc V-twin engine. Hayabusa has a four-stroke, four cylinder and liquid-cooled DOHC (double overhead cam) engine that comes with radial mount breaks in the front.

The bike that weighs 220 kg sports the new advanced digital fuel injection system with three way selectable engine mapping to suit personal preferences. Similarly, Intruder has a liquid cooled engine with DOHC and digital fuel injection.

Launching the bike, SMIPL Joint Managing Director Katsumi Takata said “This launch is in line with our aim to deliver outstanding technology and performance to the Indian market.” To be imported from the Suzuki’s Japan facility, the bikes will be available in Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

SMIPL Vice-President (Sales and Marketing) Atul Gupta said the company planned to sell about 350 units of the two bikes annually and had already got 28 bookings. The company plans to launch its GSX sports bike in the next six months.
