HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) has asked the Vice-Chancellors of 10 newly-established universities to submit a detailed report on their requirements covering all academic and non-academic aspects in order to receive funds from the University of Grants Commission.

This was decided at a meeting held at the APSCHE’s office on Wednesday. The APSCHE Secretary, M.D. Christopher, said the UGC has come out with a new proposal under the XIth plan to provide Rs. 10 crore grant to each new university and Rs. 2 crore for new degree college. But to receive that benefit the State government should contribute matching grant. “We have asked the Vice-Chancellors to submit a report to make use these funds and they would be forwarded to the government for its consent and later to the UGC to claim the funds,” he said. The Satavahana University Vice-Chancellor, Mohd Iqbal Ali, said they have been asked to submit detailed project reports by the month end. The new V-Cs raised the issue of land acquisition and asked the council to complete it .
