HYDERABAD: The State government is contemplating a proposal to enact a law making security measures in public places mandatory for better coordination of policing. This law will require big public houses and shopping malls to install electronic equipment like CCTVs and metal detectors besides fire fighting equipment. This was decided at a meeting held by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy to review the law and order situation with Home Minister K. Jana Reddy and senior police officials after his return from New Delhi on Thursday evening. At the two-hour-long meeting, the Chief Minister directed the police to review the situation regularly on a day-to-day basis and take all precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incidents in Hyderabad and other sensitive places. Dr. Reddy wanted vigil to be intensified on all entry points and all the Superintendents of Police to be on high alert. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
