TDP seeks Patil’s resignation

Staff Reporter

Srikakulam: Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party Leader K. Yerrannaidu has demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil for “failing to contain terrorist activities and protect the citizens of the country.”

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Mr. Naidu lambasted the Congress Government at the Centre for failing to put down terrorism with an iron hand. He stated that the Home Ministry had miserably bungled in gathering intelligence on terror networks in the country. The terrorist attacks in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and now in Mumbai was a glaring indication of the “casual attitude” of the Centre towards terrorists. If the Centre cannot protect the lives and properties of the common man, it should step down owning moral responsibility , he added.

Death condoled

In a separate statement, Mr. Naidu condoled the death of the former Prime Minister, V.P. Singh. He described Singh as a statesman.
