Special drive for uplift of rural areas

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Field Publicity Officers (FPO) working under the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, for disseminating information about the Union government programmes for uplift of rural areas and below poverty line families, sought involvement of implementing authorities at the State and district level in their special campaigns.

This would help in getting feedback directly from people and address their grievances, said participants at the inaugural of zonal workshop on rural development here on Thursday.

Ranjana Dev Sarmah, Director (Programmes) Directorate of Field Publicity, New Delhi, emphasised the role of FPOs in filling the gap in terms of accessibility and affordability despite the proliferation of electronic media and for reaching out to the target groups. Field publicity person was the government representative at the grassroots level in the media shadow areas as well as other areas.
