HYDERABAD: It took them nearly a year, but finally both the SCR and GHMC have come to some sort of understanding to take up the road-widening from Sangeet junction to Tarnaka on Thursday. Senior Railway officers led by Chief Engineer Amit Goyal and municipal corporation officials consisting of Engineering-in-Chief P. Panduranga Rao, Chief City Planner B. Purushotham Reddy and others decided to let work start from Saturday onwards. At a meeting held in the GHMC head-office, the officials agreed to let marking of the land earmarked for widening be taken up with engineers from both sides supervising. Of the 50,000 sq.yds earmarked for widening the road to 150 ft, little more than 15,000 sq.yds pertain to power and telecom equipment plus water and sewerage lines. The municipal corporation’s engineering wing would be taking up the shifting of power lines while the Water and Sewerage Board would be moving the pipelines. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
