The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has issued work orders for 17 packages of housing at Jakkampudi here on Thursday. The Corporation would construct 6,944 houses under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) programme. Each unit would cost Rs. 2.51 lakh including tendering premium. The VMC is yet to finalise three packages including one at Gangireddula dibba, and another two at Jakkampudi. Another 1272 houses would be constructed if bids for these three packages were finalised, officials say.
