NABH accreditation for Seven Hills

Special Correspondent

VISAKHAPATNAM: Seven Hills Hospital in the city has been accorded the certification of National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH), a significant milestone in the progress of the hospital.

Informing this to media persons here on Friday, the hospital’s General Manager, P. Vinayak Venkatesh said NABH was an institutional member of International Society for Quality in health care set up to establish and operate accreditation programme for healthcare organisations. The Board was structured to cater to the much-desired needs of the consumers and to set benchmarks for progress of health industry, he said. The accreditation would benefit the stakeholders, particularly the patients as it would result in high quality of care and patient safety.

“Our hospital already acquired ICRA graded H2+, ISO 9001:2000 accredited facility and Six Sigma compliant facility. The NABH norm is a further step as only 20 other hospitals in the country, and just another in Andhra Pradesh (Medwin) have this recognition. It is valid for a period of three years during which there would also be regular checks,” he disclosed.

The hospital was 250-bed multi-speciality one with 11 floors, and one of the best hospitals in the region, Mr. Venkatesh said.

Replying to questions, Medical Superintendent of the hospial M. Dinakar said that one-fourth of the beds were allotted for Arogya Sree scheme. On the allegations by CPI MLA G. Demudu that he was not treated properly, he said the issue was with respect to payment of fee. The MLAs would first have to pay the fee for treatment and later they would be reimbursed by the Government, he explained.
