Tractor owners’ demand

KORAPUT: Unwilling to pay the fine imposed by the tehsildar of Koraput on tractor owners, the Tractor Owners’ Union of Koraput drove all their tractors into the office premises of the tehsildar on Friday.

Official sources said that the fine was imposed by the office for the unauthorized lifting of minor minerals like sand and boulders without possessing the transit permit from the office. But the tractor owners, while alleging that due to the lack of sufficient number of staff in the office they faced difficulties in obtaining the desired permit, further asked the administration to lower the amount of the fine.
