KOTTAYAM: Fine spells by medium pacers Mohammed Ajmal (five for 29) and Balu Babu (three for 29) enabled Alappuzha to take command against Thiruvananthapuram on the opening day of the South Zone inter-district under-14 cricket match at the St. Ephreme’s School ground on Friday. After being bundled out for 107 in its first innings, Alappuzha hit back to dismiss Thiruvananthapuram for a paltry 65 runs. Alappuzha at stumps had extended its lead to 88 runs.
