Alappuzha in command

KOTTAYAM: Fine spells by medium pacers Mohammed Ajmal (five for 29) and Balu Babu (three for 29) enabled Alappuzha to take command against Thiruvananthapuram on the opening day of the South Zone inter-district under-14 cricket match at the St. Ephreme’s School ground on Friday.

After being bundled out for 107 in its first innings, Alappuzha hit back to dismiss Thiruvananthapuram for a paltry 65 runs. Alappuzha at stumps had extended its lead to 88 runs.

The scores: Alappuzha 107 in 48.1 overs (Vishnu Raj 31, Anooj 30, Ajay Sharma three for 15, Rahul Raghavan three for 25) & 46 for two in 9.1 overs v Thiruvananthapuram 65 in 28 overs (Mohammed Ajmal five for 29, Balu Babu three for 21)

Kottayam 68 in 38.3 overs (five for 29) v Kollam 102 for five in 40 overs (S. Nithin 44).
