SRIVILLIPUTTUR: Eight councillors, including three women, of the Srivilliputtur municipality were arrested on charges of preventing public servants from discharging their duty on Friday.

BJP member P.K. Ramasamy came to the council meeting by wrapping himself in a net to highlight the mosquito menace in the town.

Later, along with Mr. Ramasamy, A. Prema (Congress), N. Murugan (DMDK) and five independents staged a walk out and raised slogans against the municipal administration standing outside the Council Hall.

Municipal Vice-Chairman M. Alagarsamy, who was in the chair, lodged a complaint, following which they were arrested. The police booked them for unlawful assembly and preventing public servants from discharging their duty.
