Heavy rain in Karur

KARUR: After almost a week of hiding, bright sunshine leapt out of the cloudy sky on Friday morning, bringing cheer and relief to the rain-battered citizens of Karur.

However, later in the evening, lightning and thundershowers greeted the residents.

The downpour continued late into the night. Heavy and continued rainfall was reported from various parts of Karur district since Friday evening.

The steady rainfall put paid to the hopes of Karur public who enjoyed a bright and sunny day. Public who had resumed their routine activities again went into a shell as rain and thundershowers marked the evening. Several areas lay under sheets of water and rainwater had entered several low level residential localities in the town and elsewhere.
