Guru released on conditional bail

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Friday ordered the release of J. Gurunathan alias Guru, president of the Vanniar Sangam, on conditional bail in a case registered against him by the Meensurutti police in Ariyalur district.

The police had registered a case against Mr.Guru for allegedly assaulting Gunasekaran in April this year. He was arrested in July in connection with the case.

In his order granting bail to the petitioner, Justice T. Sudanthiram said Mr. Guru would be released on bail on his executing a bond for Rs.10,000 and two sureties for a like sum each.

He should appear before the police concerned as and when required. He should also attend the hearings in the case before the Judicial Magistrate, Jayankondam.
