So far, Rs. 4 lakh said to have been donated Meeting soon to decide steps to develop Kannada HASSAN: Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Nallur Prasad has said he has discussed the release of funds directly to taluks and district units of the parishat with the Chief Minister. He was speaking to presspersons in Sakleshpur on Saturday. Mr. Prasad was returning to Bangalore after attending Alva’s Nudisiri programme in Moodbidri. He said he hoped to have cordial relations with the Government. Mr. Prasad said he had launched “Kannada Nidhi” where people could contribute funds to the parishat which would be used for the development of Kannada. So far, Rs. 4 lakh had been collected, he said and added that the parishat would continue to print books. Mr. Prasad said the parishat now had greater responsibilities after Kannada was declared a classical language. He said he would soon convene a meeting of experts to discuss the future course of action. After understanding what was required of the parishat, it would submit a report to the Government. To another question, Mr. Prasad clarified that there was no other alternative to the Kannada Sahitya Parishat as it had been the only reliable body working for the cause of Kannada language and culture.
