Iodine deficiency disorders in 13 districts

HYDERABAD: Thirteen districts in the State have been found to be endemic in iodine deficiency disorders, according to a survey, said R. Satyavathi, Joint Director, Medical and Health Services, here on Saturday. Inaugurating a workshop on ‘National iodine deficiency disorders control programme’, she said though iodine was a micronutrient its deficiency was the main cause for several health disorders like low IQ levels, mental retardation. –Special Correspondent
