‘Give BPL cards to farm workers’

Bangalore: All agricultural workers should be given Below Poverty Line cards so that they are not denied access to the public distribution system, health care and education, said A. Vijaya Raghavan, MP from Kerala and secretary of All India Agricultural Workers’ Union (AIAWU), here on Friday.

Addressing a public meeting as part of a jatha by AIAWU, he said that BPL cards were a basic need when price rise was hitting the poor badly. An agitation would be launched throughout the country if the demand was not fulfilled.
