KANNUR: The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded action against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leaders who are trying to create ‘communal divide’ through derogatory statements against the party and its leader Abdul Nasir Maudany. PDP State general secretary Ajithkumar Asad said here on Saturday that the BJP and BJYM leaders’ ‘disclosures’ aimed at casting aspersion on Mr. Maudany and Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan were intended to hide the Sangh Parivar’s own ‘culpability’ in the crisis the country was facing now. He said the photograph presented by the BJP and BJYM leaders with their statements to ‘prove’ their allegation that the Home Minister had shared dais with Abdul Jabbar, who had been arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation into the alleged terror links in the State, during the civic reception to Mr. Maudany at Shankumukhom was fabricated. He said the photograph marked as that of Jabbar showed Jamat-e-Islami State secretary N.M. Abdul Rahman, who had been on the dais during the reception. Citing this photograph, the BJP and BJYM leaders had demanded removal of Mr. Balakrishnan and other Ministers such as M.A. Baby and N.K. Premachandran as well as the arrest of Mr. Maudany, he said. The same logic would have applied to BJP president Rajnath Singh who had shared platform with Pragya Singh Takur. Pragya Singh Takur is a key suspect in the Malegaon blast case. Mr. Asad said that none of the youths arrested in connection with the inquiry into the suspected functioning of terrorist operatives in the State were PDP activists. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
