NEW DELHI: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Saturday called for a united stance against terrorism. In a statement, the CPI(M) Polit Bureau – which is in session in the capital – said: “This is the time for all sections of the people and political circles to rise above any sectarian interests and ensure that the unity and integrity of the country is safeguarded by curbing all forms of terrorism whatever their source.” It said the right lessons should be drawn from these attacks. Stating that the “continuous and widespread terrorist attacks” have shown up the weakness in the intelligence and security systems, the CPI(M) said the government must immediately rectify this. “A beginning should be made by identifying and taking steps against the forces with external links who have perpetrated this crime.” Expressing relief at the successful conclusion of the operations against the terrorists in Mumbai, the Polit Bureau paid homage to the officers and men of the security forces who died in the battle. The Polit Bureau also extended sympathy to all those who lost their family members in the attacks. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
