BHUBANESWAR: Economists on Saturday came down heavily on Naveen Patnaik government for its continued ‘negligence’ on human development sector that included education and health. Addressing a seminar on “Budget priorities and human development: A case of Orissa”, noted economist and former chairperson of State Finance Commission Baidyanath Mishra ridiculed the State for showing Rs. 534 crore surplus in budget while there were 81,500 vacancies to be filled up. It was jointly organised by Utkal University and city-based advocacy group CYSD. CYSD Giranjali Jena and Utkal varsity Padmaja Mishra were present. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
