Similarly 10 to 12 slots would be provided for two-wheeler licence aspirants. In case, the number of slots booked, exceeds the quota on a particular date, the date column would be flashed in red colour, indicating no vacancy, Joint Transport Commissioner B. Venkateswarlu explained. The proposed system would save time for the applicants who are now forced to stand hours together in serpentine lines at 9.00 a.m. at Regional Transport offices in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts. The other objective is to minimise the role of agents and unauthorised persons. Authenticity checkTo check the authenticity of applicants, the department was taking finger prints of applicants while issuing learner’s licence. The prints would be matched before taking the permanent driving licence test. However, aspirants irrespective of the locality, would have to travel all the way up to Nagole track for taking the test. On the inconvenience to be faced by the applicants in travelling up to that distance, Mr. Venkateswarlu said, the applicants would have prior bookings and they would not have to waste much time in waiting for their turn. There were four driving tracks at Nagole and two new tracks are being prepared to meet the ever-increasing demand, Mr. Venkateswarlu said. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
