Vedavyas scotches rumours of joining PR

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Panel Speaker and Congress MLA from Malleswaram in Krishna district, B. Vedavyas on Sunday scotched rumours that he would soon join the Praja Rajyam (PR).

When contacted, he told The Hindu that he had no intentions of defecting from the Congress and regretted that speculative reports were being spread by his political opponents intentionally.

Asserting his staunch loyalty to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, he said: “I have been with the Congress all these years and will continue to do so.”

It may be recalled that a few weeks ago, former Union Minister P. Shivshankar told the media how many people including P. Upendra and Mr. Vedavyas were ‘eager to join PR’.

But, Mr. Vedavyas had instantly clarified that there was no way he was going to switch loyalties.

‘Good friend’

While admitting that PR general secretary Allu Aravind was a ‘good friend’, he stoutly denied reports that they met on Saturday evening. “May be people are using the fact that my brother Dr. B. Srinath has been with the PR.

It is a known fact, but there is no truth in the reports doing the rounds that I am also joining the PR,” he said.
