Foil conspiracy of foreign forces, YSR urges parties

Asks them to unite and sink their differences

High-level meeting of police officials to be held today

Parties should learn from TN, Karnataka on water disputes

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has urged all the political parties in the State to unite and foil the conspiracy of the foreign forces to destabilise peace and tranquillity in the country.

“If we continue to fight among ourselves, our prestige will be lowered,” Dr. Reddy remarked while interacting with a group of elected representatives here on Sunday, a day ahead of the five-day winter session of the State Legislative Assembly.

“We are at a very crucial juncture where the foreign forces have challenged our peace. In the interest of the development of the country and the State, I request all parties to sink their differences and come on a common platform to fight these forces,” he added.

Law and order

Dr. Reddy said in the interest of the people of the State, it would be a good gesture if all the parties openly challenged the disruptive forces. He pointed out that a high-level meeting of police officials was convened on Monday evening to discuss the law and order issue.

Referring to the inter-State water dispute on irrigation projects, Dr. Reddy said political parties here should learn a lesson from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, where all parties came together to protect the interests of their respective States. On the Babli project, he said some parties were trying to rake up the issue to gain political mileage, which was not correct.

He questioned whether the agitation against the project was intended to benefit the other State. He said all parties should see through the conspiracy of the Maharashtra Government and confront it unitedly.
