Vikram and Murthy win

Madikeri: The team of Vikram Mathias and Murthy won the overall championship in the Rally de Coorg, the fifth leg of the Indian National Rally Championship, held in Kodagu on Sunday.

The duo finished the 110km ‘special stage’ route with a timing of 1.41:41 hours while Girijashankar Joshi and Prajwal Pai finished second (1.48:10) and Sujay and Bharat were third (1.51:03).

In the Gypsy category, Sanjay Agarwal and Ilyas were first, followed by Aravind and Varun in the second spot. Venkatesh Babu and Lakshmikant finished third.

In the 1600cc category, Girijashankar Joshi and Prajwal Pai bagged the first and only place and in the 1400cc category, Sujay and Bharat duo finished on top.

Meanwhile, the ‘Rally Star Cup’ was won by Den Thimmaiah and Ravindra. Only 13 of the 25 cars completed the rally.
