Opening of new SBI branches opposed

Chandigarh: Employees of the State Bank of India on Monday held demonstrations at several places including Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Shimla, Jammu and Panchkula, to oppose the opening of new branches without adequate staff and infrastructure. Vijay Magon, General Secretary of SBI Officers Association (Chandigarh Circle), in a release issued here criticised the move of the bank and cautioned for stringent action including one-day token strike in January in case the bank fails to respond positively.
