HYDERABAD: The State government has decided to revive the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ for journalists and ‘Best Journalist Award’, which were not given since 2004. The Lifetime Achievement Award was instituted in the name of B. Nageswara Rao. Announcing this here on Monday, Information and Public Relations Minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy said orders were issued reviving the awards. They were being revived following a plea from journalists’ unions. In all 12 awards would be presented from 2004 to 2007 and Rs.68 lakh has been released for this purpose, the minister said. A committee headed by Press Academy chairman D. Amar had been constituted to select candidates for the Best Journalist Awards. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
