TNERC’s order hailed

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Indian Wind Power Association (IWPA) has commended the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) for its directive to the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) to utilise wind energy banked by captive users with the Board.

The Commission, through its order, restored confidence and recognised the role of wind power in times of power shortage, K. Kasthoorirangaian, vice-chairman of the association, said in a statement.

Welcoming the TNERC’s another order, reducing the scheduling and system operation charges from Rs.1,000 per day to Rs.300 per day for the installed capacity of 1,650 KW and above, he argued that the payment of such charges even during the non-wind season was not possible. He appealed to the Commission to waive the scheduling and system operation charges for renewable energy sources as a promotional measure.
