St. Ephreme’s takes title

PULINKUNNU: Last year’s runner-up St. Ephreme’s HSS (Mannanam) dethroned defending champion and host St. Joseph’s HSS to win the title in the 11th centenary inter-school basketball tournament on Monday.

In the final, St. Ephreme’s crushed St. Joseph’s 62-34 after leading 44-23 at half-time. Chandu Das top scored for the winner with 23 points. He was complemented well by Kashi Viswanath (12 points) and Aby Sony (11 points). For St. Joseph’s Jaimon Francis was the top scorer with 12 points.

The results (final): St. Ephreme’s 62 (Chandu Das 23, Kashi Viswanath 12, Aby Sony 11, Noble Thomas 10) bt St. Joseph’s 44 (Jaimon Francis 13, K.A. Jijomon 10).
