The free exhibition, organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations, is being organised in every district this year, as part of the birth centenary celebrations of the leader. In all, 140 photographs, taken on important occasions associated with the life of the late Annadurai are on display. Speaking after inaugurating the exhibition, the District Collector, Reeta Harish Thakkar, said that the Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi took the special initiative in organising the exhibition all over the state, with a view to exposing the present-day youths and students to the late Anna’s hard efforts in bringing about socio-economic justice to the weaker sections of the society. She also interacted with a cross-section of school pupils who earlier had a glimpse of the exhibition. The students informed her that the photographs threw light not only on the late Anna’s political career in the cause of the depressed but on his multi-faceted skill and in-depth knowledge in literature, drama and his revolutionary contribution for the growth of Tamil film industry. The Chief Educational Officer, S. Chellam and the Principal (in-charge) of H. H. The Rajah’s College, B. Manoharan were among those who were present. The exhibition will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. till December 10 and the admission is free, according to the Public Relations Officer, J. Soundarapandian. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
