Couple die of burns

A woman, who attempted suicide by resorting to self-immolation, died hours after admission to Government General Hospital here on Monday. Her husband, who rushed to her rescue and suffered burns, also died.

Police said that S. Nagamani (23) of K.K. Nagar picked a quarrel with her husband, K. Selvam (33), who came home inebriated on Sunday night. After a heated argument, the woman doused herself with kerosene and set herself ablaze. Selvam, who tried to save her, also suffered serious burns. Neighbours rushed them to the hospital, where they died.
